Killing him isn't going to help. It won't undo any of this. It won't take away your scars, or mine. It won't get mom the last ten years of her life back, or the ten before that, and it won't...

[It won't make him Touya again, but it also won't kill Touya for good. But how is he supposed to say any of that? He doesn't even disagree with his feelings, he can't stand the old man, but...he knows that you can't change the past. All you can do is move forward.

He stops for a moment, just looking at Dabi, then shakes his head, expressing his words, or lack thereof. A touch of his left foot to the trail of ice melts the wall into steam and puddles, and the next words are quiet, none of the anger or belligerence in them. He sounds...lost, maybe. Alone.]

Go, if you want. But I wish you'd stay.

He'll die still thinking he was right doing what he did. You know that. And I don't want him dead. I want him forgotten. I want to overtake him, and watch as everyone else in my generation passes him, too. I want him to realize that he didn't do anything at all, and that he was never anything more than a second-rate substitute number one for the five minutes it lasted.

[Yeah, he'll be gone, but what's the point if he dies thinking he'd done good? It was an infuriating thought, just like he was always so infuriating with his 'you'll appreciate what I did for you someday' attitude. No, he needs to realize that nothing he ever did mattered, that his children were better off without him, and even the world wouldn't miss him when he was gone.

But they can argue about that later. As long as he's staying. And he's not leaving. And Shouto's still waiting, blinking in surprise at Dabi's words before shaking his head and letting out a little huff that's not quite a laugh.]

I won't tell anyone if you won't.

[It's as close to a peace offering as he can get. He won't tell Fuyumi, or Natsuo. Even if he wants to. Not as long as Touya--Dabi--feels the way he does.]
