[keigo can't say he minds the way the guards are burnt in front of him. he doesn't care anymore. he's lost whatever hope for the meta army. he doesn't care about his handlers. or heroes. he just has one thing in mind, and it's getting dabi and running.
of course, he doesn't want twice or any of the others in the league to burn. they were the only ones to really care and not hurt him in any way.
he's a poor excuse of a hero, but keigo doesn't care about that at all. he's grown to hate the position the more his handlers used and threaten him, especially when they started to throw dabi into the mix. and if what he thought was true...
he may never look at heroes the same again.
dabi leaves him and keigo looks up, tries to follow but the chains keep him in place. but twice is suddenly there, and he's being unlocked, the wrists first, the collar next. he pushes past the villain, about to hurry and reach for dabi, but twice grabs him, pulling him back from being burned.]
Dabi, we need to go. Or should we stay and have some fun?
[twice questions, wanting nothing more than to put some distance between dabi and the meta army. the army definitely crossed some boundaries here.]
[Dabi can barely hear anything else but the fire in his ears. He can barely see either, but he knows where the guards are and he aims his flames toward them, burning one of them away..
He's about to blast the other one, but he sways into the wall, looking back over at Hawks and Twice. Hawks is free and he knows they should get the hell out of here, but he wants to end them all.]
Do ya really think I'm gonna leave this place standing?
[he growls out, but he's already in bad shape, and if he doesn't stop he'll kill his own body completely. There are parts of his fresh burns bubbling and peeling. Ujiko will have a field day with this one.]
[twice is still holding him back and keigo squirms. he has to hold the feather into his own hands, to keep it from burning. he's mouthing the villain's name, wishing he had is voice to speak up. he didn't even have his phone on him.
beside him, twice frets, and the doctor is no help, looking far too smug at the situation. maybe eager to get his hands onto dabi.
keigo finally pushes twice back, and he stumbles and hurries over to his lover. dabi can't do more than this. he can see it. and he honestly, keigo can't hold himself back either. at dabi's side, the hero wraps a hand around the villain's hot wrist, flinching at the pain, but trying to ignore it. he tugs insistently, to get them to leave.
he just wants to go. he wants to run away. he can't handle this much longer. and he can't watch his lover burn himself away.]
G...G..go.
[he chokes out, throat burning raw at trying to speak. but he wants to go. and he wants dabi to come with him.]
[Dabi can feel his insides burning up, but he can't get the image of Hawks chained up there with his legs spread and the others trying to force themselves on him. He wants to make them all pay.
It's only Hawks that stops him, hand around his wrist to pull him back. He can barely feel it anymore, but he knows. His flames die down and he's breathing heavily, trying to focus on Hawks, then the doctor and Twice behind him.
They have to get out of here.]
Grab the others, we gotta go. Ujiko, secure Shigaraki any way ya can. Use all the Nomus if ya gotta. Don't talk to anyone that isn't part'a the League. Not anyone else, Twice. Ya got it?
[he grabs at Hawks' arm, practically falling against him.]
[any other time, keigo would appreciate dabi getting vengeance for him, especially after that short nightmare. he can't thank the villain enough for stopping the meta army guards. however, he wants nothing more than to leave and not look back. he really can't take much more of this.
maybe dabi can't either. it's why he wants to get the villain alone with him.
as keigo wraps a secured arm around dabi's waist to help him, he can see the doctor humming in acknowledgement to the order. twice eagerly nods his head, and he's at their side quickly, scanning over, lips parted, about to ask if they needed him to take dabi-
but keigo offers a small smile, not needing to say anything further that he could help carry the villain. they needed twice to secure getting the remainder of the league. and, maybe, keigo just wants to be side to side with dabi for now. he really wants to get the villain alone, explain what was on his mind.]
[ dabi knew they shouldn't have teamed up with these assholes. who the hell even knows what skeptic and redestro have told the heroes and the commission by now. and before he thought maybe hawks really was in on it too, but now... no.
the hero wouldn't put himself in that position just to fool him, would he? he can't believe that. he knows that look in hawks' eyes and those feathers never lie. the one in his pocket that lead him here was fearful and desperate.
but now they have to get out, and whatever's going on that dabi can't remember, they can talk about it then, away from this madness. at least twice and ujiko listen to him without any argument. he wishes they could have gotten more help from the doctor, but maybe they can meet up after this when they figure out what the hell they're doing. at least dabi has more supplies on him now. ]
Keep in touch. We'll regroup when it's safe. Try not to fuckin' die.
[for now, he and hawks can get out of here through any of the various basement exits, as long as skeptic and redestro aren't on their asses yet.]
[keigo's body is still tensed up from the position he was just in. it's not one he ever expected to repeat. not in this way. it's certainly frightened him. but the warmth of the villain beside him is calming him down. he hates feeling helpless like he was.
it may have been reckless of him to use all his feathers up the night before. it's not the first time he's done it though, and he's never felt this weak without them.
beside them, twice salutes, and keigo is sure he says something over the regrouping, but the hero is already trying to pull dabi down the hall. he believes twice can take care of himself and get everyone to safety. however, he and dabi needed to leave. they were both exhausted and spent. they needed to find a spot to rest and lick their wounds clean.
keigo doesn't know of many exits, but he did explore the one he takes dabi in. him and the villain had used it prior before, and it's thankfully close by. he really didn't want to cross paths with skeptic or re-destro. or anyone. he would use his last feather to protect the both of them though.
if dabi wasn't so easy to make sick through motion, he would use that same feather to carry the villain. but, this is also fine too. the feeling of protection keeps his thoughts in order.]
[ dabi knows now that whatever plans he had, they're fucked. he doesn't know the extent of it cause he can't remember what hawks told him the night before, but judging by how things went down when they got back here, it's bad. it's real bad.
maybe there's even a bounty on his head now for kidnapping hawks and burning his building down, along with all the others. no matter how angry he was at hawks for not giving him more details, and running off to deal with shit on his own- no matter how suspicious he's been acting as well- dabi couldn't leave him there. not like that. hawks is still very much his, no matter what.
maybe that's what it's come down to now.
he lets hawks drag him down the hall towards the exit, trying to gather whatever strength he has left to keep moving. his insides are burning and there are still tendrils of smoke coming out of his cracked skin. It was a mistake to come back here, and he wishes that hawks would have told him so. but he can't get angry about it now, not when he's trying to cool his body off and put one foot in front of the other. ]
You okay?
[ he knows hawks isn't, but now that they're alone once again, he has to ask. that whole ordeal was pretty fucked up.]
[maybe trying to deal with skeptic and re-destro wasn't the greatest plan. he never got close, just those handsy guards who locked him up, promising to return him from where he came, but in more pieces than one.
despite that, he really did want to know how much those two knew, and why they demanded a tracking device on him. he clearly remembered them using dabi's name too. it didn't make much sense. they knew something though. unfortunately, keigo couldn't take it much longer. he really wanted out of this.
all it takes now is anyone using dabi to threaten with, and keigo would bend backwards to save him.
as long as he could stay with this villain particular, he'll do what's asked of him.
they're going to have plenty of people after them. everyone is going to want a piece of the bounty on dabi's head at this rate. he needed to keep the villain protected at all costs.
keigo is almost so lost in his thoughts that he barely catches dabi's words. turning his head, he considers how to answer. he wasn't okay, no. but he wasn't as terrified as before. the hero decides to bump his head softly into dabi's body, hoping it's enough to keep the villain from worrying about him. each step forward is better. he'll shake this off within time.
he's certainly glad that dabi did get to him in time. he was getting desperate there at the last second, scared his mouth would be fucked up even more. he wasn't even sure if they had even worst intentions. it's over and done with though. he's with dabi again.
as he comes to see the exit up ahead, the light of the day shining brightly at the edge of the tunnel, keigo slows down his pace. they weren't being followed, as far as he could tell. and they both could use a small break. plus, he needed dabi to properly direct him where to go from here.]
[ dabi can only imagine what those guards would have done, especially trying to keep him away. if he could kill them all over again, he would. he still wants to go back and burn the entire building down, with everyone inside. as far as he's concerned, they're traitors.
dabi is still worried, even when hawks bumps his head against his shoulder, but it's as good as it's going to get for now. at least they're mostly in one piece and getting out of here. he'll treat more of hawks' burns when they get somewhere safe, and see what's going on with his wings. he needs to make sure his wings are okay.
he's relieved when hawks does slow down, but he also doesn't want to go too slow or he'll have to stop and feel the pain he's in. still, he's shakier on his feet than he's like to be, and probably holding onto hawks far too tightly just to keep himself upright. the worst part is, he can barely feel his hands. so much of him feels numb. ]
I've got a place near here that I crash at. Picked it for when I wanna get away from these fucks, but still need to stay close by. It's two blocks south... we can make it.
[he realizes how rough his voice sounds now too, from all the heat and fire- at least he can speak, though. he hates not hearing hawks' voice, especially at a time like this.]
[whatever dabi wants to do when he recovers, keigo doesn't think he'll mind. as long as the villain isn't straining himself. although, keigo doesn't really think he's worth the trouble. but, if he thought about it, if their roles were reversed, he could very well see himself pulling the same stunt.
the hero comes to nod his head as dabi brings up another one of his safe-houses. good. he could finally be alone with his lover. he returns to the previous pace, so as to not get too relaxed just yet. if he stays focused like this, then they'll be there in no time.
he takes off down south, wishing he had his wings more than ever to block the sun shining down on them. he's so much more used to being with the villain when it's dark. well...he did want to go out into public with dabi. not all bruised and burnt, of course. and maybe not with so much money for dabi's head.
like the villain, keigo misses talking already. he likes their easy talking at times. how comfortable it is to be with dabi. even if they've just went through quite some trouble to get where they are now.
thankfully, two blocks heading south doesn't take much time at all. when they arrive, keigo looks around. he misses his feathers for times like this, but at least his eyes are just as keen. it's relatively quiet. once he feels it's safe enough, he returns his gaze to dabi to help lead them to where the villain wanted them to be secured for the time being.]
[ if dabi uses his flames any more than this for a while, he'll probably ruin his body completely. he might kill himself if he keeps it up. that doesn't mean he'll stop though, especially if someone tries to get their hands on hawks.
they won't be safe out in the open like this, especially during the day, but dabi knows they have no choice. they just have to keep their heads down and get there. the worst part is that he can't even see enough to keep a lookout around them. hopefully hawks can live up to his name with his keen, sharp eyes. ]
Can't fuckin' see.
[he mutters under his breath, frustrated that it feels like he's falling apart. it feels like everything around him is falling apart, and he doesn't even remember the half of it. the neighborhood feels familiar though, and as they slow down he squints, getting a better look at it all. he points to a building one down from the one they're at. most of these buildings are run down and abandoned- but the one they're going to has some of dabi's stuff, at least.]
This one... third... floor.
[just the thought of the third floor feels like too much right now though, but they just have to make it inside and out of sight.]
[keigo frowns to himself as dabi comes to bring up his eyesight. a part of him kind of knew that they were still bad, but...he had hoped the doctor healed them for the villain. if they had seen a doctor with the heroes, especially one that can immediately cure with a simple touch, dabi might have his eyes healed all up. and keigo could probably talk again.
the hero comes to hold dabi a little tighter, trying to scan the buildings. he's not sure which one it could be. maybe he could take the feather from dabi in order to search them thoroughly until he found something that could be the villain's safe house. he doesn't like taking the protective feather away from his lover. he's already come to decide over allowing dabi to keep it.
thankfully, the villain is able to point out his building. keigo nods his head in confirmation before helping dabi along with him. third floor was going to be hard though. they'll manage. they always do. and they've made it this far. what's a few more steps along the way?
slowly, keigo leads them up the stairs, taking his time, but trying to not stall for too long. if he wasn't too tired and exhausted from the night before, keigo might have tried to carry the villain. he knows his lover must be tired himself. soon enough, they're on the third floor, leaving keigo a little breathless. his throat is becoming raw though, with the force of his breathing. almost there.
swallowing down some saliva to try and calm his aching throat, keigo looks around, the floor too big to know where to go. it's pretty dusty but doable. the windows are still in tact. no one would hear them this high up either. it's not a bad hideout.]
[ as long as no one has followed them here dabi hopes they'll be fine. he doesn't know just how much surveillance has been done on them, or even just him, but he's hoping this place is off the radar.
if not, they might have to go underground, and dabi really doesn't want to do that.
once they're inside the building dabi tries to relax just a little. he needs to be able to so he can focus on the stairs. it'll be rough, trying to rest, but still trying to stay alert enough in case anyone comes for them. it's something dabi used to have to do in his household all the time when he was younger, but he's sure he hasn't fallen out of practice with it. ]
Fuck.
[he gasps, chest heaving intensely by the time they get upstairs. he feels like he's going to collapse, and his knees give out for a moment, but he holds on tight to keigo.]
It's... it's the last one... back... in the... back.
[keigo isn't sure how valuable he or dabi are for skeptic and re-destro to come after, especially after his lover's display of revenge on the meta guards. but, there's that heavy warrant for dabi, and keigo is pretty positive who's behind it.
he'll keep his eyes peeled, and if need be, he'll use his last remaining feather to protect the villain.
but, dabi is a master of the disappearing act and staying out of sight. he can trust the villain to protect them, even without his sight.
wide, worried eyes look over his lover as they reach that final step. he probably should have carried him with the feather, honestly. dabi must be terribly exhausted after all of this. gods. he desperately needed his wings. few more days, right? he does try to give dabi an apologetic squeeze at his waist for all the work he's done.
keigo would go slower from here, but he really wants to get them settled in. he hurries them to the back of the floor, breathing hard. about halfway, after worrying for his lover, keigo comes to kneel and lift up dabi into his arms. the great thing about those wings is the strength he can use to carry up to their weight. dabi was pretty thin and frail. even as exhausted as he was, he could manage this much.
when he reaches the back, keigo tries not to stumble, slipping inside the back room, holding dabi a little tighter as he examines the area.]
[Dabi still thinks he's good at staying out of sight, but at the moment he doesn't remember what Keigo had told him. He doesn't remember why he went on that killing spree in the first place, burning all those buildings down. If he'd remember, he'd know that they've been followed all this time, and that Keigo was doing so much behind his back.
It's a good thing he doesn't remember just yet, because he'd be very angry- not just for what happened before, but that Keigo let them walk right back into it without telling him all over again.
Maybe Keigo is just hoping his memory won't return at all.
It's just a few more steps, he knows he can make it, so he's terribly annoyed when Keigo lifts him up to carry him. He's too tired to argue though, and he knows that he might not have actually made it all the way inside the apartment.
The place is small, with not much more than a mattress and a bathroom. Barley a kitchen. Dabi has never needed anything more than that anyway, though. By the mattress there's a bag of supplies, mostly medical in nature, a few bottles of water and a set of clothes. This is how he's lived for a long time so he's used to it, but damn he's gonna miss that beautiful penthouse. ]
[for dabi's memory, keigo almost wishes it would come back, just so he doesn't have to go through this all over again. for now, it's not exactly in his mind. he has other things he wants to bring up. more important things.
if dabi is willing to listen to him, that is.
as soon as the villain asks him of it, keigo sets dabi down. he quickly goes to check out the hall they just walked from before shutting the door. it barely clicks into place, making an eerie sound as it does. he looks out the window next, pushing a ripped sheet in it's place. no one is around. good.
he allows himself to relax then, leaning against the wall briefly. he's so tired and exhausted.
keigo doesn't get too comfortable though, returning to dabi's side, looking the villain over and his new burns. did the doctor do anything helpful for his villain? what about his sight? he can't mask his worry at all, fretting, wings would be trembling if he had any feathers in place.]
[ dabi leans hard against the wall when keigo sets him down, just trying to catch his breath. he's in terrible shape and he knows that keigo doesn't really know why. he doesn't know the extent of what dabi's quirk does to his body because dabi never had a chance to explain it to him. he supposes he had been putting it off, but now he's run out of time.
he wants to help secure the place, but he really can't, finding it hard to even stay upright right now. so he just watches keigo as he tries to slow his breathing, wishing that the other man would stop and take a moment to breathe, too. ]
Kei, slow down...
[he manages to pant out, grabbing a hold of keigo's wrists with his still overly heated hands.]
Just stop for a minute, okay? S'fine. I'll be fine. Lookit me. Stop.
[keigo about shakes his head, too worried about his villain that he doesn’t stop to think about himself. how could he when he caused all this mess to begin with?
but, dabi taking his hands gets the hero to look up with sad eyes, coming to return the hold of the villain’s hands. they’re still warm. warmer than usual.
if dabi were to wrap his arms around keigo, the heat would make him weak in the villain’s grip.
the hero nods his head though, calming the fretting. he hates that they’re in this position, that dabi is hurt like this. what if he never gains back his sight? what is keigo’s voice is always coarse?
he tries to mouth a few words, then sighs and bumps his head against dabi’s head. he motions for dabi’s pockets like before, quietly asking for the phone again.]
[ dabi doesn't get how weak heat makes keigo, because his bird is always drawn to it. if he'd wrap his arms around him now, would it really make him weak?
he doesn't think he could do so anyway right now, for so many reasons, even if keigo looks at him with those sad eyes.
dabi just wants keigo to stop. to breathe. to calm himself long enough so they can get their barring straight once again. if that's even possible at this point. dabi still barely knows what the hell is going on.
he's even reluctant to hand his phone over once again, but he fishes it out of his pocket, handing it over. ]
[it’s weak in the sense that he gets tired more easily. he does like it though, especially in the early mornings, wrapped up in a mess of arms and legs. he might fall asleep if he were in dabi’s arms though.
especially given how exhausted he already was.
he doesn’t catch how reluctant his lover is with the phone, but he does try to keep calming down, relaxing as much as he could given their predicament. once the phone is in hand, he holds it to his chest, listening to his lover and nodding in agreement.
he comes to sit down beside dabi, eyes blinking tiredly as he settles. he’s been going strong for awhile now. he hadn’t even realized it. once he feels relaxed enough, he holds up the phone, to start typing.]
[ it's the easiest thing in the world to finally sink down onto the floor with keigo, just letting himself collapse there and know he doesn't have to get up for at least a little bit.
they have to tend to their wounds and get some rest, but for now... for now this is good enough.
there's so much on dabi's mind that he doesn't know where to begin, so he just tries to put that aside for now as well, and closes his eyes once he feels keigo settle against him, the tenseness leaving him just a little bit as well. he could fall asleep here he's so exhausted, but then he hears keigo typing and he blinks his eyes open once the apology comes out through the phone. ]
For which part?
[he can't help but ask, because there's so much. there's so much he doesn't even remember to be upset about- but he asks it more tiredly than accusingly, but it's still there.]
[keigo barely catches how dabi’s eyes are closed. he feels a little guilty for that. dabi must need to rest and here he is trying to apologize for....well, everything.
he doesn’t know where to start honestly.
he has so much to explain. so much to bring up. how does he bring this all up? how can he even begin to explain? dabi deserves to know it all.
maybe he knows where to start.
but not right now. they really need to rest.]
Everything. But, for leaving you earlier. There’s a lot that I don’t know going on. I just want to keep you safe.
Why'd ya leave? Why'd ya just run off like that? I made think you were... I dunno. Made me feel like I couldn't trust you.
[something he's struggled with for so long. it's been so back and forth and it feels like just when he thinks he can trust keigo, there's something else. and then now, with all this surveillance bullshit going on, he doesn't know what to think.]
Just know there's shit ya ain't tellin' me, Keigo.
[he says quietly, letting his head fall back against the wall. his gaze is still on the other man, though. but then he shakes his head and puts his hand over the phone.]
Later. Just... fuckin' leave it. Whether you're lyin' to me or not, this is where we're at, and I'm with ya on this.
[clearly no matter how he feels about keigo and what he might be hiding from him, dabi will kill for him. there's no way he'd leave him behind now, no matter what. he just hopes he isn't making a mistake here.]
[immediately keigo wants to respond, even parting his lips to do so. he wanted to explain what he could. his lack of voice stops him, and he tries to think to correctly explain it all.
what a time to have no voice.
dabi lowers the phone down, and keigo’s eyebrows furrow. he opens his mouth again and closes it, then nods his head. he hates that they’re like this, but he can’t force it. there’s plenty of unanswered questions for dabi. keigo is even lost to some of it.
he sighs and rests the phone down between them. they both needed rest and could use it.
he pulls his knees up, wrapping his arms around them, chin resting forward. he’ll try to relax, but he wants to make sure they’re both safe at the same time.]

despite that, he really did want to know how much those two knew, and why they demanded a tracking device on him. he clearly remembered them using dabi's name too. it didn't make much sense. they knew something though. unfortunately, keigo couldn't take it much longer. he really wanted out of this.
all it takes now is anyone using dabi to threaten with, and keigo would bend backwards to save him.
as long as he could stay with this villain particular, he'll do what's asked of him.
they're going to have plenty of people after them. everyone is going to want a piece of the bounty on dabi's head at this rate. he needed to keep the villain protected at all costs.
keigo is almost so lost in his thoughts that he barely catches dabi's words. turning his head, he considers how to answer. he wasn't okay, no. but he wasn't as terrified as before. the hero decides to bump his head softly into dabi's body, hoping it's enough to keep the villain from worrying about him. each step forward is better. he'll shake this off within time.
he's certainly glad that dabi did get to him in time. he was getting desperate there at the last second, scared his mouth would be fucked up even more. he wasn't even sure if they had even worst intentions. it's over and done with though. he's with dabi again.
as he comes to see the exit up ahead, the light of the day shining brightly at the edge of the tunnel, keigo slows down his pace. they weren't being followed, as far as he could tell. and they both could use a small break. plus, he needed dabi to properly direct him where to go from here.]

dabi is still worried, even when hawks bumps his head against his shoulder, but it's as good as it's going to get for now. at least they're mostly in one piece and getting out of here. he'll treat more of hawks' burns when they get somewhere safe, and see what's going on with his wings. he needs to make sure his wings are okay.
he's relieved when hawks does slow down, but he also doesn't want to go too slow or he'll have to stop and feel the pain he's in. still, he's shakier on his feet than he's like to be, and probably holding onto hawks far too tightly just to keep himself upright. the worst part is, he can barely feel his hands. so much of him feels numb. ]
I've got a place near here that I crash at. Picked it for when I wanna get away from these fucks, but still need to stay close by. It's two blocks south... we can make it.
[he realizes how rough his voice sounds now too, from all the heat and fire- at least he can speak, though. he hates not hearing hawks' voice, especially at a time like this.]
no subject
the hero comes to nod his head as dabi brings up another one of his safe-houses. good. he could finally be alone with his lover. he returns to the previous pace, so as to not get too relaxed just yet. if he stays focused like this, then they'll be there in no time.
he takes off down south, wishing he had his wings more than ever to block the sun shining down on them. he's so much more used to being with the villain when it's dark. well...he did want to go out into public with dabi. not all bruised and burnt, of course. and maybe not with so much money for dabi's head.
like the villain, keigo misses talking already. he likes their easy talking at times. how comfortable it is to be with dabi. even if they've just went through quite some trouble to get where they are now.
thankfully, two blocks heading south doesn't take much time at all. when they arrive, keigo looks around. he misses his feathers for times like this, but at least his eyes are just as keen. it's relatively quiet. once he feels it's safe enough, he returns his gaze to dabi to help lead them to where the villain wanted them to be secured for the time being.]
no subject
they won't be safe out in the open like this, especially during the day, but dabi knows they have no choice. they just have to keep their heads down and get there. the worst part is that he can't even see enough to keep a lookout around them. hopefully hawks can live up to his name with his keen, sharp eyes.
This one... third... floor.
[just the thought of the third floor feels like too much right now though, but they just have to make it inside and out of sight.]
no subject
the hero comes to hold dabi a little tighter, trying to scan the buildings. he's not sure which one it could be. maybe he could take the feather from dabi in order to search them thoroughly until he found something that could be the villain's safe house. he doesn't like taking the protective feather away from his lover. he's already come to decide over allowing dabi to keep it.
thankfully, the villain is able to point out his building. keigo nods his head in confirmation before helping dabi along with him. third floor was going to be hard though. they'll manage. they always do. and they've made it this far. what's a few more steps along the way?
slowly, keigo leads them up the stairs, taking his time, but trying to not stall for too long. if he wasn't too tired and exhausted from the night before, keigo might have tried to carry the villain. he knows his lover must be tired himself. soon enough, they're on the third floor, leaving keigo a little breathless. his throat is becoming raw though, with the force of his breathing. almost there.
swallowing down some saliva to try and calm his aching throat, keigo looks around, the floor too big to know where to go. it's pretty dusty but doable. the windows are still in tact. no one would hear them this high up either. it's not a bad hideout.]
no subject
if not, they might have to go underground, and dabi really doesn't want to do that.
once they're inside the building dabi tries to relax just a little. he needs to be able to so he can focus on the stairs. it'll be rough, trying to rest, but still trying to stay alert enough in case anyone comes for them. it's something dabi used to have to do in his household all the time when he was younger, but he's sure he hasn't fallen out of practice with it. ]
Fuck.
[he gasps, chest heaving intensely by the time they get upstairs. he feels like he's going to collapse, and his knees give out for a moment, but he holds on tight to keigo.]
It's... it's the last one... back... in the... back.
no subject
he'll keep his eyes peeled, and if need be, he'll use his last remaining feather to protect the villain.
but, dabi is a master of the disappearing act and staying out of sight. he can trust the villain to protect them, even without his sight.
wide, worried eyes look over his lover as they reach that final step. he probably should have carried him with the feather, honestly. dabi must be terribly exhausted after all of this. gods. he desperately needed his wings. few more days, right? he does try to give dabi an apologetic squeeze at his waist for all the work he's done.
keigo would go slower from here, but he really wants to get them settled in. he hurries them to the back of the floor, breathing hard. about halfway, after worrying for his lover, keigo comes to kneel and lift up dabi into his arms. the great thing about those wings is the strength he can use to carry up to their weight. dabi was pretty thin and frail. even as exhausted as he was, he could manage this much.
when he reaches the back, keigo tries not to stumble, slipping inside the back room, holding dabi a little tighter as he examines the area.]
no subject
Put me down.
no subject
if dabi is willing to listen to him, that is.
as soon as the villain asks him of it, keigo sets dabi down. he quickly goes to check out the hall they just walked from before shutting the door. it barely clicks into place, making an eerie sound as it does. he looks out the window next, pushing a ripped sheet in it's place. no one is around. good.
he allows himself to relax then, leaning against the wall briefly. he's so tired and exhausted.
keigo doesn't get too comfortable though, returning to dabi's side, looking the villain over and his new burns. did the doctor do anything helpful for his villain? what about his sight? he can't mask his worry at all, fretting, wings would be trembling if he had any feathers in place.]
no subject
he wants to help secure the place, but he really can't, finding it hard to even stay upright right now. so he just watches keigo as he tries to slow his breathing, wishing that the other man would stop and take a moment to breathe, too. ]
Kei, slow down...
[he manages to pant out, grabbing a hold of keigo's wrists with his still overly heated hands.]
Just stop for a minute, okay? S'fine. I'll be fine. Lookit me. Stop.
no subject
but, dabi taking his hands gets the hero to look up with sad eyes, coming to return the hold of the villain’s hands. they’re still warm. warmer than usual.
if dabi were to wrap his arms around keigo, the heat would make him weak in the villain’s grip.
the hero nods his head though, calming the fretting. he hates that they’re in this position, that dabi is hurt like this. what if he never gains back his sight? what is keigo’s voice is always coarse?
he tries to mouth a few words, then sighs and bumps his head against dabi’s head. he motions for dabi’s pockets like before, quietly asking for the phone again.]
no subject
he doesn't think he could do so anyway right now, for so many reasons, even if keigo looks at him with those sad eyes.
dabi just wants keigo to stop. to breathe. to calm himself long enough so they can get their barring straight once again. if that's even possible at this point. dabi still barely knows what the hell is going on.
he's even reluctant to hand his phone over once again, but he fishes it out of his pocket, handing it over. ]
Can we sit down? Just right here. Sit with me.
no subject
especially given how exhausted he already was.
he doesn’t catch how reluctant his lover is with the phone, but he does try to keep calming down, relaxing as much as he could given their predicament. once the phone is in hand, he holds it to his chest, listening to his lover and nodding in agreement.
he comes to sit down beside dabi, eyes blinking tiredly as he settles. he’s been going strong for awhile now. he hadn’t even realized it. once he feels relaxed enough, he holds up the phone, to start typing.]
I’m sorry.
no subject
they have to tend to their wounds and get some rest, but for now... for now this is good enough.
there's so much on dabi's mind that he doesn't know where to begin, so he just tries to put that aside for now as well, and closes his eyes once he feels keigo settle against him, the tenseness leaving him just a little bit as well. he could fall asleep here he's so exhausted, but then he hears keigo typing and he blinks his eyes open once the apology comes out through the phone. ]
For which part?
[he can't help but ask, because there's so much. there's so much he doesn't even remember to be upset about- but he asks it more tiredly than accusingly, but it's still there.]
no subject
he doesn’t know where to start honestly.
he has so much to explain. so much to bring up. how does he bring this all up? how can he even begin to explain? dabi deserves to know it all.
maybe he knows where to start.
but not right now. they really need to rest.]
Everything. But, for leaving you earlier. There’s a lot that I don’t know going on. I just want to keep you safe.
no subject
[something he's struggled with for so long. it's been so back and forth and it feels like just when he thinks he can trust keigo, there's something else. and then now, with all this surveillance bullshit going on, he doesn't know what to think.]
Just know there's shit ya ain't tellin' me, Keigo.
[he says quietly, letting his head fall back against the wall. his gaze is still on the other man, though. but then he shakes his head and puts his hand over the phone.]
Later. Just... fuckin' leave it. Whether you're lyin' to me or not, this is where we're at, and I'm with ya on this.
[clearly no matter how he feels about keigo and what he might be hiding from him, dabi will kill for him. there's no way he'd leave him behind now, no matter what. he just hopes he isn't making a mistake here.]
no subject
what a time to have no voice.
dabi lowers the phone down, and keigo’s eyebrows furrow. he opens his mouth again and closes it, then nods his head. he hates that they’re like this, but he can’t force it. there’s plenty of unanswered questions for dabi. keigo is even lost to some of it.
he sighs and rests the phone down between them. they both needed rest and could use it.
he pulls his knees up, wrapping his arms around them, chin resting forward. he’ll try to relax, but he wants to make sure they’re both safe at the same time.]
